The information below outlines hospital options in San Miguel de Allende. Please note that in the event you need hospital care, depending on the level of service needed, it is likely you will be asked to pay a deposit up front. 

Bring your ID or residency card, your passport, and your credit card when you go to the hospital. After your visit or procedure, it’s a good idea to ask your doctor to review your final bill to make sure that all the charges are correct.

There are certain cases where your private insurance or even Medicare (if that applies)  will cover emergencies, especially within the first sixty days of your stay in Mexico. It’s always a good idea to contact your insurance company in any case, before you need to go the hospital, to be aware of your insurance privileges and care.
